Every female worries about taking the perfect pictures. Everything just has to be right. Makeup…hair…smile…your profile just has to be perfect. My grandmother use to say “You can’t rush perfection.” It takes time to get “right”. Most females use makeup to enhance their beauty as well as hide their imperfections; however, I choose to wear as little makeup as possible and wear it as less as possible. Being a person with sensitive skin, I had to figure out alternatives to create the look I want without using photo shop. I have a little trick called “Catching the Light”.
Catching the light is basically using your surroundings, whether it’s the sun, room lighting, flash light (or whatever) to give the light necessary for your desired look. Does this take time? Yes, what female is content with taking just one picture? This takes as much time as it would for you to snap a regular picture, you just have to “Catch the Light”.
I personally prefer lighting with the light bulb covered and not exposed. I take the pictures from a safe distance away from my face but not too far as to loose the focus point (which is my face) but not too close to bring attention to my childhood battle wounds and freckles. I like to embrace the light with confidence because with confidence comes perfection.
I would love to see how you “Catch the Light.” Send me a photo to feature on my upcoming “Catching the Light” post. Thank you all!!!
